Athletes in Action

AIA has taken me on an amazing journey, using sports as a platform to share Christ with people in other cultures and countries. After 2 international trips I am still excited to be a part of this amazing Christian organization. Check us out. www.athletesinaction.org

a notebook on walking out a life of faith in Jesus Christ.

sometimes the proof is where you least expect it...

why is it that we are so quick to, and find it so easy to, latch on to anything that explains away God; yet so reluctant to do the same with other things that are not of God...?  i think the answer lies where we least expect it...

and maybe it's this...  there is an Enemy.
and that adversary, is constantly using every manner of deception, to decieve us into believing anything but God.  and once we are off believing in something else, he is perfectly content with letting us go on in our ignorance with little to no resistance.

at this point, only the immense grace of God can awaken us from these spells of God-ignorance.  and it usually comes in the form of some sort of wound to our souls, or breaking of our hearts, or illness or tragedy that awakens our sleeping faith from the depths of deadness.

think about it...you wanna get close to money...? you don't find much resistance do you?

how bout girls?
how bout work?
try knowledge?
bury your head in your iphone?
or get your comfort in a starbucks triple mocha expressalatte...
______________ insert your thing here.

point is...we are perfectly free to draw near to anything we want.  and really, most things are pretty easy to draw near too....only problem is, as we all find, those things don't last.  they're temporary.

but...try and draw near to God...what do you get?  resistance.  the Enemy throws every excuse in the world your way to explain away the truth of Jesus...and the sad part....we listen.

when you really look at what's happening here...you begin to see some traces of light through the fog.  see, in actuality, the Enemy shows his hand in his eagerness to explain God away, and, in turn, shows us that there is a God whom he is trying to keep us from.

so next time seventeen excuses fill your mind when you begin to ponder the reality of God, remember that there is an Enemy trying to keep you from believing...and remember that Jesus is revealing His truth to us everyday in that still, small voice that is stonger, and quieter than the all the other voices speaking to us.
