to say that we are doing things for God is to imply we're doing it on our own apart from Him. rather what we should be after is to do things with God. what do you think Jesus meant when He said 'take my yoke upon you and learn from me.' He was saying 'let's do this together.' what God is after more than anything is for us just to be with Him. its not that He needs us...that would be a fairly arrogant way to look at our relationship with the almighty One. rather He chooses to work through us and in us because He loves us more than we could ever know. so don't worry about doing 'things' for a God who already has everything as if your fulfilling some silly quota of God-service...instead, just be with Him and see what He does with you.
